the name game.what are the odds?

Posted by Picasa        What are the odds of finding somebody with your name?        What are the odds of finding somebody with your name?
Not just the first Thomas and the last Moore.
His first name was William. His last name was Thomas-Moore!
On my Rail Rover trip the other day on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, I ran across a couple and overheard that the lady was a journalist
I'm always interested in a journalist, so I asked the fellow about where she  plied her trade.
He told me she was a free lance and travel writer and they were from Charleston, N. C.
Then when we got around to introductions, the name surprise popped up.
William is back in the Akron area for the first time in 50 years. He grew up in Copley and went to school there.
What did he think of today's Akron?
“It's great,” he said and that was echoed by his wife. They thought the downtown was great...much better than many of the cities they visited. To them I has that livable look and feel what with Akron U and the ballpark...
William and his wife visited the house where he grew up and he found it wasn’t the  way he remember it. Changes had been made that didn’t compliment the way his father had it built.
They also saw Stan Hewet where he had visited as a boy since his father was a vice president of Goodyear.
The couple do get around a lot. William is a model Shipwright. He builds and repairs ship models and they can be expensive....not only to build, but to ship.
So they figure out the cost of shipping and tell the buyer that for that figure they'll deliver the merchandise in person...that way it arrives in mint condition.
And that city is their next vacation spot.
A very interesting couple. And it didn't  both them that the train was late getting back to Akron because of a falling tree even though friends had made dinner reservations for them.
