a familiar name pops up on farm shelf

Posted by Picasa

Shopping at Szalay's farm Market in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, I noticed this framed old page from the Akron Beacon Journal from years gone by--when local news and features were number one with powers that be.
It's a full page photo feature on Szalay's and the photographer was a fellow I worked with in my early years at the BJ.
That was Julius Greenfield, chief photographer for a number of years and a man who knew how to use a camera.
Greenie as we called him and his staff took many photos of the subject they were covering and he might pick out one and say he like it, but he didn't push the point and went along with the editor's pick.
I think one year, he and the staff came up with 650-plus photos of the Soap
Box Derby....that's when the Derby was considered a number one event in the city.
The page sitting on the shelf just another reminder of the "good old days" at the Beacon Journal.
You never know what you'll run into and when that's remind you of the "old days".
